Thank you for taking the time to learn more about what your partnership with Our Community Table is doing in our local community. Our Community Table is a faith-based ministry that is bringing churches and the community together to help those in need. What we started on April 10th, 2020 has grown to become a well-recognized ministry that targets local families in need of food.
Ministry Vision
Our vision is to expand the ministry to ensure that no one should have to do without a meal. We have expanded the ministry to eight stations in Martin County (Stuart – Hobe Sound – Indiantown) to feed the bodies and souls of those who are less fortunate all around us. We are in the planning stages of expanding outside of Martin County, to opening our first station in St Lucie County, to recently celebrating our one year anniversary on our expansion from the US to Colombia, South America working closely with our missionary partners. It’s exciting to see how the Lord is working through your efforts!
Ministry Expansion
We are also excited to announce that we have added Our Community Table Bike Team to the ministry. The Bike Team blesses kids in the community with repurposed and new bikes. These kids use these bikes to enjoy around their neighborhoods and will even use them to get to the food we supply on Saturdays. In the last couple of years our team has blessed over 200 local kids.
Future Expansion Plans
-Our own facility or building we can use as a home base
-Provide clothing through our own Clothing Closet
-Operate a Mobile Food Pantry
-Purchase vans for food transport
-Forming a Disaster Relief Team
-Provide assistance and resources for other relief efforts that are unforeseen to the community
-Provide a space for meeting rooms and counseling.
-Facilitate small group studies to build a deeper understanding of who Jesus is and learn more about the Word of God.
-Catering events to raise awareness
-Collaborating with other non-profits to help each other’s efforts in aiding for those who are in need in Martin County
-Change the “norm” of how agencies serve the communities
-Growing and the teaching of The Power Of Prayer Journaling in small groups.
Ministry Growth
The ministry has grown from serving 124 meals on our first Saturday to serving over 1200+ meals every Saturday. As of the end of January 2023 we have served over 185,000 meals including OCT Colombia. We have a total of 9 stations in Martin County, 6 stations in Colombia since Our Community Table was started. Our team is growing! We have over 400 active volunteers that participate in helping to serve our communities. Our goal for 2023 is to provide over 70,000 meals locally to those in need and to expand into St. Lucie County as well as expand by adding more stations in Colombia South America.
Our valued volunteers include those who are physically or mentally handicapped, to families who are teaching their young children the importance of helping those in need by giving back. We also have the ones we serve meals to giving back by helping those in need.
Ministry Food Cost
Our food costs have increased. This is due to a combination of additional food distribution stations, and a general increase in food costs. Our average meal cost has risen by 33% to between $2200 and $2600, depending on the menu, per weekend. This translates to a “per meal” cost of $2.33. Additionally, we are facing challenges related to supply and food item shortages.
Ministry Needs
There are three ways to partnering with the ministry of Our Community Table. Each of these are related to “Raising Awareness”:
1-Raising awareness to identify the need in our community. We need to know where food is needed to ensure that we accomplish our mission of making sure no one has to go without a meal.
2-Raising awareness to recruit new volunteers. People are the heartbeat of this ministry and we rely on them to sustain, grow, and expand our impact.
3-Raising awareness for financial support. Funds collected directly support weekly food costs and supply purchases. All donations go directly to the cost of operating the ministry with no salaries no payrolls that are associated with it.
The need is great! The volunteers, partners, and supporters of Our Community Table each feel called to do our part and help those who are less fortunate. While we are able to continue to grow and expand, our yearly costs will increase and we will need additional help financially. We want to thank you for your support and ask that you would continue to support this ministry and the needs of our community.
